Janice Bivens Obituary

Janice Faye Bivens, age 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2023 in Sardis at her loving home. She is at rest with her loving Savior that she longed to see. "Jan" was a faithful member of Sardis Baptist Church, yet had been a great blessing and tremendous help to other Christian fellowships throughout her life. Her church family, (especially her inner circle friends), were important to her and regarded with highest love and esteem. Jan was a woman of honor to the Lord she served, taking seriously the teachings of His Word as her guide for biblical womanhood. Her life revealed this conduct. Open Bibles would be found in her home at any given time, read and marked.

Life dealt this lady many of those less than desirable circumstances, yet in God's grace she would sail through every one of them, disposition unchanged. Always the encouraging, comforting, resolving one. If you had an issue, talk to Jan. That edifying, warm smile, gentle chuckle, and sweet words always spoken would just set things right every time.

Even with the news of her serious illness, the warmest, peaceful smile came across that precious face. Then being with her at that moment, she shared her greatest concern; those she leaves behind, her boys. Surrounded by sons and grandsons, her desire is that they would know her Lord Jesus and walk with Him with their families. So, if you would know her departing request, and desire to honor her in it, seek to know and honor her Lord, dear family.

Some called her Mom, some Granny, some Gran Jan, or Dear Sister and Friend. Where ever you find yourself in the group, know that she loved you and had a blessed hope of seeing you again.

Jan is survived by her sons, David (Julie) Bivens and Daryl Bivens, both of Sardis: Grandsons - Wesley (Jolinda) Bivens, Joel (Elisa) Griffin, Jeff (Stephanie) Griffin, Jonathan (Teri) Bivens, Jason (Amy) Bivens and Jireh Bivens; two brothers, Terry (Glenda) Britt, of Reagan and Harold (Rachel) Britt, of Scotts Hill; Great Grandchildren - Amber (Luke) Rosson, Bekha Griffin, Courtney, Lindsey, Kaitlyn, Ava, Aaryn Bivens, Jordyn Griffin, Chlo Griffin, Jace, Katie, Ryder and Hannah Bivens; Great-Great Grandchildren - Kylan and C.J. Rosson and many special nieces, nephews and cousins that were very loved.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Vaughn Bivens in January 2002, her parents, Ervin and Thelma Britt, two brothers, Ervin Glenn and Max Ray Britt, two sisters, Geneva (Booty) Wade and Helen Britt.

Special thanks to all her family and friends, as well as ours, for your loving prayers, support, and many kindnesses. Special regards for Tennessee Quality Care Team.

Her Funeral service will be at 1 PM Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Reed's Chapel - Scotts Hill. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery. Visitation is Friday 6 PM - 8 PM and Saturday 11 AM until service.
