Paul Parrish

Mr. Paul  Parrish, 81, passed away at his farm home in Scotts Hill, TN Tuesday, October 25th. 

He was the son of the late Loda and Gladys Parrish.  He grew up and raised his family in Decatur County.  Paul's career as a towboat deckhand, pilot and captain spanned many decades. After his retirement from Crounse Corporation, he spent an additional decade piloting the Saltillo Ferry and operating a towboat for Tinker Sand and Gravel.  Paul enjoyed working on his farm and could often be found hauling wood, fencing or farming cattle.  He was a Christian and completed several trips doing missionary carpentry work.  Paul loved family gatherings, sweet treats, river life, and porch sitting.  He taught over a dozen children and grandchildren how to drive.  He was always generous with his time and possessions to help family and friends.

Mr. Paul was preceeded in death by his first wife, Freda Jean Parrish and siblings Tommy Parish & Tootsie Ivey and extended son, Jerry Hurst.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Parrish, children Jeff Parrish, Kenny Parrish (Lisa), and Gina Parrish Matlock (Neil), 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Larry Parrish (Jean), Billy Floyd Parrish (Ruby), as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by extended children Angel Fulwider, Mena Roby (Mike), 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and one special sister-in-law, Frances Merriman.

He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

His Funeral Service will be held at Reed's Chapel, Decaturville, TN, at 2 PM on Thursday, October 27th,  with burial to follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. 

Visitation is Wednesday 4 PM - 9 PM and Thursday 11 AM until service at Reed's Chapel - Decaturville.
