Phyllis Elaine Attaway Bartholomew

Phyllis Elaine Attaway Bartholomew of Decaturville, TN, was born Tuesday, May 18, 1943 at
home in Reagan, TN to the union of the late Euther and Velma Benson Attaway. Phyllis was the
third oldest of six siblings and grew up with her brothers and sisters on a farm in Henderson
County. She attended school in Reagan and Scotts Hill. She was united in marriage to Larry
Bartholomew on April 3, 1970 and moved to Decaturville where she raised their three children.
Phyllis and her husband owned and operated Larry's Discount Store and Larry’s Service Station.
Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. Phyllis passed from this life on
Wednesday, December 7, 2022 after a brief stay at Westwood Health Care and Rehab.  
Survivors include her husband, Larry Bartholomew of Decaturville, TN; two daughters, Patricia
Elaine Carrington, and Pamela Bartholomew Gardner (Eric), both of Decaturville, TN; a son,
Larry Don Bartholomew, of Nashville, TN; three sisters, Frances Attaway, of Greenwood, SC;
Sandra Ethridge (Gerald), of Reagan, TN; Sue Ivey, of Scotts Hill, TN; a brother, Van Attaway,
of Reagan, TN; She is also survived by three grandchildren, Bo Stewart (Candace), Tyler
Stewart and Bartholomew Gardner. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Bryce
Boone, Eva Stewart, Grayson Stewart and Braylynn Stewart.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Zane Gray Attaway.
Pallbearers include: Eric Gardner, Brian Ivey, Richard Stewart, Bo Stewart, Tyler Stewart, and
Lee Sheffield.
Visitation with the Bartholomew Family will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 4:00
PM until 9:00 PM and again on Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 9:00 AM until service time
at Reeds Chapel in Decaturville.
 
Services will be conducted Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Reeds Chapel in
Decaturville. Burial will follow in Decaturville City Cemetery.
