Royce Dell Camper

Royce Dell Camper, 81 of Decaturville passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Southern Hills  Tri-Star Hospital in Nashville, TN. 

Royce was born January 16, 1941 in Decaturville to the late Rhodes "Doc" Camper and Vallar Rhea Gathings Camper. His passing was 1 day short of his 82nd birthday.

Royce worked in construction and pipeline work for over 30 years. He was a former employee of Murphy Brothers and also Hinkle McCoy. He loved to fix things in his spare time. He worked on guns and anything that Sarah would show him a picture of, he would build it. As time passed and his family grew,  instead of just building one for Sarah, he had four girls that he also built for.  He was for sure a handy man with many talents. He loved his family for sure.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sarah Conway Camper, two daughters, Stephanie (Kevin) Garrett of Parsons, TN and Kelley (Matt) Zemer of Athens, TN, three brothers, Jim Camper of Texas, Larry Camper of Decaturville, and Hank Camper of Lexington, two sisters, his twin, Joyce Davis of Saratoga, MS and Sharon Ball of Houston, Texas, seven Grandchildren, Sam (Becca) Carrington, Sarah Grace Carrington, Cameron and Jack Zemer, Ben (Kara) Garrett, Ross Garrett,  Matt Garrett, and two Great-Grands Brett and Logan Kate Garrett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rhodes "Doc"  and Vallar Rhea Gathings Camper, his brothers, Billy, Mackie Joe and Jerry Wayne Camper and a sister, Patsy Grice.

His Funeral Service will be Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Reed's Chapel- Decaturville, TN. Burial will follow in Crawford cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday at 2:00 PM till 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until service.
