William Thomas Western

William Thomas Western, 89, of Sardis, TN, passed away Sunday, March 12th, at his home.

He was born March 25, 1933 to the late Clyde and Pafford Western. He departed this life March 12, 2023 at his home. 

Thomas served in the US Navy on the USS Merrick during the Korean War. He retired from the TN Dept. of Transportation as an engineer after 30 years. After his retirement, he worked another 25 years for P & W Construction.

He is  survived by his wife of 66 years, Wanda Western, of Sardis; two daughters, Vickie (Steve) Sipes, of Sardis; Kim (Stevie) Smith, of Lexington; three sisters, Joyce Thompson, of Reagan; Betty Hopper, of Scotts Hill; Wilma McPeake, of Mt. Juliet; Geneva Watkins, of Nashville.

He is also survived by 6 Grandchildren - Heather (Dusty) Hayes, Amber (Lance) Azbill, Holly (Colt) Blankenship, William (Laura) Smith, Colby and Colton Vinson, whom he helped raise.
13 Great- Grandchildren - Hallie & Anna Beecham, Avery Sims, Hayden, Hunter & Olivia Smith, Weston & Oakley Beckham, Baby Blankenship, Jaxon, Jace, Jagger & Jance Azbill.
Also a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Carroll, a grandson, Brandon Thomas Sipes, 2 brothers, Roger & Clois Western and his parents.

His Funeral Service will be held at Reed's Chapel, Scotts Hill, TN, at 2 PM on Wednesday, March 15th,  with Bro. Keith Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Baptist Cemetery. Military Rites will be observed at the gravesite.

Visitation is Tuesday 3 PM - 8 PM and Wednesday 9 AM until service.
